Tom Duffey Hockey Schools – High Intensity Canadian Hockey School

Since 1996, Tom Duffey Hockey Schools have continuously developed programs to achieve goals of excellence in instruction, comprehensiveness in approach, and intensity in execution. We have become a truly Canadian Hockey School with numerous players from Quebec and Ontario and some from points west.

You will see from our When and Where page that a we offer a wide range of programs for all age groups. If your son or daughter needs to hone a specific skill, they can do so in a Power-Skating school or a Puckhandling school. If they wish to concentrate on the skills of a single position we have programs for Defencemen and schools for goaltenders. At all our non specialty schools we do a lot of work separately with Defense/Forwards/Goaltenders and then work them together in game situational drills.

For parents seeking a Canadian Hockey School that addresses the highest level of player development we offer High-Performance Elite Schools. These schools initiated four years ago, give special attention to those players who have compiled excellent records at the competitive AAA/AA level.

The locations of our schools make them a natural destination for a family holiday. Halifax-Dartmouth area is a metropolitan area with a calendar full of festivals, concerts, and sporting activities. The smaller centers where we hold our schools, Miramichi, Kentville and Sydney all have natural attractions that provide abundant opportunities for sight-seeing and outdoor recreation.

This year as always we will ensure quality instruction with a commitment to reasonable group sizes and a high instructor-student ratio. Happily many of our instructors will be returning to work with us for another year. We will select some new young university and Junior players and add some senior staff to help us meet our expanded offerings. We will choose people based on their desire and ability to work with players from all age groups. For a seventh year we are pleased to welcome Marie Bowness as our primary power-skating instructor. Marie, a former Canadian Pairs figure-skating champion, is a leading expert in skating techniques.

We take our greatest pride in caring interaction with our players. Our instructor to player ratio, the best in Atlantic Canada, enables us to know and appreciate our students as individuals.
